Laser appliances
in resurfacing is still a very new procedure. But already it has
been shown that laser skin procedures produce less bleeding, less
bruising, and less post-operative discomfort than other resurfacing
methods. Laser skin resurfacing uses laser light to treat deeper layers
than microdermabrassion, but not as deep as laser scar removal. This
innovative laser treatment lasts longer and produces less discomfort
than many alternatives. Laser scar removal represents another popular medical adaptation of laser technology. This laser treatment reduces the appearance of scars by 50 to 80 percent and helps prevent their recurrence. People with darker skin types may not be able to use laser scar removal. People who suffer from skin disorders such as psoriasis, cystic acne, and dermatitis may not be ideal candidates. Those using certain medications such as isotretinoin for acne must stop using the medication for six months prior to the procedure. Lasers are the most effective method for removing unwanted tattoos. The laser device fragments the ink with short pulses of intense, concentrated laser light. The method of delivery and the wavelengths used are designed to target only the tattooed pigments, without affecting the surrounding pigments and layers of skin. Different laser lights are used for different ink colors. Black ink is easiest to remove, because black absorbs the full spectrum of light, while green, blue, red, and other colors require more targeted laser pulses. Laser hair removal is an attractive alternative to tweezers, shaving, and waxing. A laser beam of light can free you from the tedium, frequency, expense, and pain of getting rid of unwanted hair. Our plastic surgeon, Mrs Christina Taki-Oikonomou takes on laser skin procedures either in her Medical Practice or at the collaborated medical centers [e.g. Athens Dermatological Center & Medical Center S.A.]. |
